Katherine Eisold Miller Named 2027 “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers

Miller Law Group founder Katherine Eisold Miller has been recognized in the 33rd edition of The Best Lawyers in America®, with a 2027 “Lawyer of the Year” honor for Collaborative Law: Family Law in White Plains.
This year’s Best Lawyers recognition covers four categories for Katherine: Collaborative Law: Family Law, Family Law, Family Law Arbitration, and Family Law Mediation. Within that group, “Lawyer of the Year” stands apart — only one attorney receives it per practice area in each community.
“I feel deeply honored, and grateful for the clients and professionals I’ve had the privilege of working with over the years,” Katherine says of this recognition. She points to the personal and professional growth those relationships gave her as something she values deeply.
A Different Way Through Divorce
Roughly 97% of divorcing couples end up settling, meaning that the cliché of a courtroom fight tends to be the exception rather than the rule. Katherine’s view is that couples are better served starting with negotiation from the outset, rather than defaulting to litigation first and turning to settlement only after the process has taken its toll.
Katherine trained in mediation, then in collaborative law — and it was during that second training that something sparked within her.
“Within 15 minutes, I felt like I had come home,” she says, describing a room of lawyers working toward resolution together instead of competing. “I was bitten by the bug.”
She still brings that same approach into how she works with clients. She describes her method as integrative — treating a divorcing family as a whole unit rather than a marriage that’s simply ended. “It’s important to think about the individual: their goals, hopes, and dreams,” she says. In her view, a settlement agreement only does its job if it’s built around the life someone is trying to live afterward, not just the terms of the split.
There’s a misconception Katherine pushes back on directly. Divorce isn’t a failure, she says — it’s a family finding a new structure, not a broken one. Treating it as a win-lose proposal only makes an already difficult transition harder for everyone involved.
Divorce with Dignity is the phrase Katherine has used for two decades to describe that approach — resolution built around people, not conflict for its own sake. This latest recognition reflects that same throughline.
