How to Divorce Over The Holidays?

The holidays are approaching, and while they can be stressful for everyone, they are particularly challenging for divorcing and divorced parents. Over my 35 years of practicing family law, I’ve found that there are creative ways to manage this stress.
Here’s a tip to consider: Instead of sticking to the traditional approach of alternating holidays each year, you might develop new traditions. For example, one parent could always host Thanksgiving, while the other could create a special meal or event with the children on the weekend before. This new tradition might even become more enduring and enjoyable for the family as it evolves over time.
Additionally, you may wonder whether celebrating holidays together is beneficial. Sometimes it can be, but it may also be confusing for children. There are many factors to consider, and Dr. Pollock and I will be there to address your questions and offer advice.
